How the Flensburger bricks found their way to the Caribbean ...
The Flensburg bricks served as ballast for the merchant vessels and were needed to build the fortresses, houses, roads and steps on the three small islands. Today, these typical yellow bricks can still be seen everywhere. They were produced in the many brickworks around the Flensburg fjord, for example in Catherinesminde (on the peninsula Broager, opposite Holnis), where you can see the same yellow remains on the shore to this day.
